The Test: Hair oil application in fifteen seconds - AKA the total amount of time you're given on TikTok.
The Score: It’s not all fun and games, we wanna make sure you get the best black lipstick for your dolla’ so will be scoring them on the below:
- Instagrammable packaging
- Ease of application
- Texture
- How it feels on hair
Kérastase Elixir Ultime L'Original Hair Oil
What Kérastase say: Nurturing and caressing your tresses, the shine-enhancing oil can be used as a primer, finisher or refresher, sealing the look of split ends and smoothing the hair fibre for a sleek and perfected finish. Hair feels soft, silky and protected.

Price: £41.40
L'Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil Original Oil
What L'Oréal Professionnel say: Infused with a blend of oils, including precious Argan Oil and Cranberry Oil (a Vitamin C-rich ingredient that nourishes and protects while inspiring a healthy glow), the lightweight oil delivers 48 hour frizz protection and effective heat protection against temperatures up to 230°C.
Why we picked it: One of the first hair oils to the game, this Mythic Oil by L'Oréal Professionnel is promising magic results, and we wanna see whether they come true.

SHOW Beauty Pure Treatment Oil
What SHOW Beauty say: This luxurious Pure Treatment Oil from Show Beauty is a rejuvenating elixir that works to restore shine and silky soft texture to your hair. Boasting an anti-oxidant and nutrient rich formula, this oil will leave your hair fibre renewed and strengthened.
Why we picked it: Instagram packaging GOALS. We love having SHOW Beauty in our collection purely cos it looks so pretty, but is the product itself as good?
Price: £50
Moroccanoil Treatment Light
What Moroccanoil Say: If the original Moroccanoil is too heavy for your fine hair Moroccanoil Light Treatment is the answer. It gives the same incredible results but has a lighter consistency that's perfect for fine and fair-coloured hair. Moroccanoil Light Treatment is instantly absorbed by the hair to improve manageability, control frizz, detangle and increase elasticity.
Why we picked it: We know and love the original Moroccanoil treatment, but how does the light one compare?
Price: £32.85
Redken All Soft Argan-6 Oil
What Redken Say: Soften hair like never before with new Omega-6 enriched, fair trade Argan Oil which provides concentrated softness, deep conditioning and lasting suppleness to intensely nourish dry, brittle hair.
Why we picked it: Did someone say Keratin? Filled to the brim with this stuff, we wanted to see if Redken's softening claims live up to the hype.
Price: £26.50
Wella Professionals Oil Reflections Luminous Smoothing Oil
What Wella say: Harnessing the powers of Camellia Oil and White Tea Extract, the luxurious formula infuses individual strands with long-lasting moisture and hydration, whilst restoring softness and mirror-like shine from root to tip.
Why we picked it: Used in salons worldwide, Wella have a reputation plenty of haircare brands can only dream about, so we wanna get to know this pro product ASAP.

Hair Oil Reviews
Kérastase hair oilInstagrammable packagingKérastase are queens of creating ultra covetable and luxe products, so their Elixir Ultime will be getting pride of place right at the front of our beauty stahs.
5/5
Ease of applicationIn a large bottle that's easy to hold, this product applies easily and without any excess oil.
5/5
TextureAlmost like a dry oil, this doesn't leave your hands or hair feeling sticky after application.
4/5
How it feels on hairAs it's a dry oil, hair was left easy to manage without any excess oiliness.

L'Oreal Professionel Hair OilInstagrammable packagingAlmost Art Deco inspired, we love the sleek packaging on the Mythic Oil, however it's a bit too long to fit in our everyday cosmetics bag!
3/5
Ease of applicationWith an easy to use pump that doesn't distribute too much product, Ruby easily managed to add this to her hair without any difficulties.
5/5
TextureBeaut to apply, this is an incredibly nourishing hair oil that Ruby's already obsessed with, however it might be a bit too thick for finer hair types.
4/5
How it feels on hairSmells unreal, and left Ruby's hair glossy but not wet.

SHOW Beauty hair oilInstagrammable packagingCome on, just look at it ?
5/5
Ease of applicationThe pipette doesn’t have much control and sometimes the hair oil can drop off before you've squeezed the top of it. You have to move from bottle to hand quickly otherwise you get a trail of oil, and that can take a while to master.
2/5
TextureThe texture is lovely. It looks like it's going to be quite a heavy hair oil, but on application it's a lot lighter. A little goes a long way too - all you need is a 5p sized amount for a whole head of hair.
4/5
How it feels on hairKirsty'shair strands are quite fine, but she has a lot of them and this doesn’t leave her hair greasy at all! Just smooth and sleek. Plus, can I add a category for smell? I am OBSESSED!

Moroccanoil Hair OilInstagrammable packagingMoroccanoil treatment always comes in its classic pharmaceutical style bottle, and we love how it looks with the rest of our beauty stash on the 'gram.
5/5
Ease of applicationTo use the hair oil, you have to unscrew the bottle top and replace with the pump. Although cute, it kinda leave the bottle top a bit redundant, as the pump gets filled with oil and you can't really take it out without cleaning and washing away loads of product.
However, actual application was super easy, and Lucy was only left with a little bit of residue on her hands.
4/5
TextureA perfect light wash over Lucy's curls, there are no complaints here!
5/5
How it feels on hairOnce you've perfected the amount required for your hair type, you'll absolutely nail this product. While you're fine tuning it, you might find it hard to get just the right amount.

Redken hair oilInstagrammable packagingEmily loved the packaging, and it would fit perfectly in her haircare stash, but she'd love a box with a bit more info on the product and how to use it.
4/5
Ease of applicationLovely and silky, this product was a dream to apply.
5/5
TextureEasily melting into hands, this was the best hair oil for smoothing away flyaways and keeping hair manageable.
5/5
How it feels on hairHair felt super smooth, and Emily loved the results after application.

Wella hair oilInstagrammable packagingSophie loves the cute little bottle, and it'll be great for travelling, however a bigger version would be perfect for use at home.
4/5
Ease of applicationEasy to apply to hair straight from the applicator, there's nothing we'd improve here.
5/5
TextureAlthough great for Sophie's hair, we can imagine this would be a little much for particularly fine hair.
4/5
How it feels on hairSophie loved how this hair oil defined her curls, and it needs a shout out for its incredible smell!
